2020 Fender Strat (upgraded)
2020 Fender Strat (upgraded)
Bought pre-covid, this strat has been one of my favorite I have played in a very long time. I always wanted a nice seafoam green strat, and this year of release was a sweetwater exclusive, pairing the roasted maple neck with this seafoam green color. The stock v-mod II pickups left a little to be desired, so I replaced them with a set of Lundgren grey montereys, RWRP middle for hum cancelling and with the copper baseplate in the bridge for a bit more output. Replaced the stock wiring with my own custom Jimi-style wiring, with a 3-way switch and a blender pot to blend the middle pickup in any position you would like.
Combined with the push pull of this blender pot to switch phase of the middle pickup really opens up this strat to a plethora of useful and glorious tones.
Middle, blender off, normal phase for tele twang
middle blender on, out of phase for a unique 3 pickup modified tone
out of phase in either neck or middle with some degree of blend for all sorts of in between tones
You can really get a wild range of tones from country to fiery blues rock with minimal changes to your electronics.
Virtually all components of this guitar have been upgraded:
- Graph Tech Ratio locking tuners
- Tusq XL nut and string trees for more resonant tone and increased tuning stability
- CTS pots/CRL switches, Gavitt wire throughout
- Storm guitars pickguard/back plate selected for Monterey-style vibes
- Callaham upgraded tremolo saddles for increased sustain and resonance
- PureTone output jack
Only wear is a minor scratch on treble side of neck around first two frets, doesn’t affect playability at all just a minor cosmetic irritation
